With the American Coot in Mayo thoughts turn to what could turn up in Northern Ireland that has never been recorded here before. American Coot is the obvious answer i have come up with but i don't have any pictures of American Coot! So another pretty good candiadate is Pied Billed Grebe. There was 2 in Ireland last winter and currently there is one near Manchester. So keep an eye out on your local duck pond or lake for any odd looking Little Grebes.
This is what one looks like and is superbly photographed by Gary Jenkins who is one of the UK's top photographers, his work often features in Birding World. Special thanks to Gary for allowing us to use it.
