Bird News Friday 17th December

A single Waxwing was on the Belfast Road, Newtownabbey near the old Montracon Factory. Large numbers of Redwings were between Newtownabbey and Templepatrick. (if i see either a Redwing or Waxwing in Spain it will be Sangria's all round!)

50 Waxwings were in Larne.

More Bramblings reported with 8 at Carrickfergus, 3 were at Sharman Park, Stranmillis, Belfast, another one at Cyprus Avenue in Belfast, and the final bird at Bowens Lane, Lurgan. If tou want to find a Bramblin now is the time to fill your boots!

What was almost certainly a Bittern has been reported from a small lough on private farmland near Ballynahinch.

A male Blackcap was visiting a garden at Marguerite Close, Newcastle. 8 Long-tailed Tits were at feeders, 2 Bullfinch were also seen.

Another Blackcap which was suppressed from us was in a garden on the Lisburn Road. Its a a male aand we know the people involved!

35 Skylark and 2 Little Egret were at Dundrum Inner Bay South. 10 Redwing were just south of Clough
