Bird News Saturday 25th December

Merry Christmas everybody and for those who don't like Christmas...bah humbug!!

A Tree Sparrow and Bramblings were at a garden in Killough. A Shoveler, Woodcock and 4 Tufted
Duck were at Killough Harbour. 22 Grey Heron, a female Gadwall and a female Scaup were at 
Ardglass Harbour. Between Ballyhornan and Killard there were Snipe, 10 Woodcock, a Whooper 
Swan, Merlin, Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. 4 Greylag were in fields at Kilclief and
Yellowhammers and Tree Sparrows also noted.
In Co. Antrim, 33 Brambling (one ringed) were in a garden in Carrickfergus (3 Fieldfare, 2 Siskin
and 8 Lesser Redpoll were also present, a Blackcap was in a garden along Skegoneill Avenue in
Belfast and a Fieldfare in a garden at Island Magee.

Dargan bay, Belfast, this morning had 100+ pochard in with the usual 500+ scaup and 100 tufted duck. Also 25 coot.  250 Dunlin were at Whitehouse lagoon (Keith Bennett)

Bunged up with the cold and I decided I'd slob around the house for a while.

This fella was back (surprise, surprise)

 Only interested in one thing!

Dundrum Road Mega Rarity!! - Yellowhammer, garden tickage christmas!!!!

Also on the Dundrum Road, Dan Bailie has just had 2 Waxwings in his back garden.

Tunisia Update:

2000 Black-necked Grebes, 100 Slender-billed Gulls, Great White Egret, 105 White-headed Duck and 3 Ferruginous Duck. 3 Calandra Lark, 3 Caspian Tern. Only a few hours left to stuff their faces with meat products before it's back home to face the vegetarian!
