Bird News Tuesday 18th January

A female Smew was at Portmore Lough and the male Ferruginous was at Craigavon North Lake.The Ferruginous Duck was also seen at Lurgan Park Lake.
Two Goosander were at Lough Island Reavy, Castlewellan

24 Waxwing were near Priory Park at Finaghy and 2 Blackcap at Windsor Avenue, Lisburn Road (D.Allen et al) 8 Waxwing were also at Portrush.

A distant Long-tailed Duck was off Murlough NNR, 2 Brambling were in Islands Park Newcastle (C. and T. Murphy)

The female /immature Smew was off the Qouile Bridge near Downpatrick and 43 Shovelor at Castle Espie near Comber. Lastly on wildfowl 2 Pink Footed Geese were near Crossmaglen

The adult Ring Billed Gull was at Portrush and a first winter Meditterean Gull at Ballycarry Bridge

A single Brambling was at Newcastle

A Great Tit was at the ECOS centre, Ballymena

A Common Buzzard was outside Saintfield
