Mealy Redpoll

Andrew Poots from Richill Co.Armagh feeds the birds in his garden and already has been rewarded with large numbers of Bramblings and now this little cracker, a rarity to boot. A Mealy Redpoll a rare winter visitor to Northern Ireland although prone to small influx's in some years and possibly over-looked. But sharp eyed Andrew was onto it like a shot and managed a couple of photos.
Other Mealy Redpolls have been seen in Lisburn, Lurgan Park Lake, Oxford Island and Craigavon North Lake so there is obviously a number of birds in the Mid Ulster area. Check any flock of Redpolls you see you just never know!
Thanks to Andrew for the photos, now if you could manage an Arctic Redpoll or a Pine Grosbeak that would be better again!
