Bird News Saturday 16th April

In Co. Antrim:
2 Dipper, a Merlin and 4 Red Grouse were at Cappanagh

The adult Ring-billed Gull and 5 Whimbrel were at Portrush

In Co. Down:
A Little Gull, the redhead Smew, 50 Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Sandmartin and a Greenshank were at Collector's Bay, Quoile Pondage (E. McGuiggan, M. Killops and A. Crory)

2 Great Spotted Woodpeckers were near Downpatrick

A Stock Dove was on the Lisboy Rd. (D. Bailie)

13 White Wagtail, 150 Golden Plover, a flock of 35 Ringed Plover and a dead Otter were at Tyrella Beach

2 Common Sandpiper and a Greenshank were at Dundrum Inner Bay North

A Slavonian Grebe was at Greyabbey and 4 Black Throated Diver at Gransha, Strangford Lough

At the RSPB Reserve a Peregrine, 500 Golden Plover and 5 Wigeon were seen.

In Co.Armagh
26 Tufted Duck were at Lurgan Park. A Sparrowhawk was at Craigavon Lake.

At Ardmore Point a Wheatear, 60 Scaup and 27 Goldeneye were seen.

Reedy Flat didn't have much either with 2 Shoveler and 3 Wigeon the best. 100 Black Tailed Godwits also.

About 2000 Black Headed Gulls were feeding off the hide at Oxford Island.
