Bird News Saturday 23rd April

In Co. Armagh:
3 Swift and 3 Grasshopper Warbler were at Craigavon Balancing Lakes (Ed O'Hara)

A Cuckoo was seen over Peatlands Park at 7,30 this morning (Mark Killops)

At Oxford Island Great-crested Grebes were displaying, coots and little grebes nesting near the hide, 4 Reed Bunting were nearby. 3 Blackcap, a Grasshopper warbler, 2 Willow Warblers and a Sedge Warbler were at the Discovery Centre. A pair of Teal were at the Croaghan hide as well as 2 Common Sandpiper (Neil McCartney)

A Grasshopper Warbler was at Peatlands Park (Derryanne Bog) as well as 3 Whitethroat (Keith Bennett)

30 Common Tern had returned to the artificial islands and 2 Garganey were at Portmore Lough RSPB (Keith Bennett
 
In Co. Fermanagh:
13 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Whimbrel, 7 White Wagtail, 3 Grasshopper Warbler and a Peregrine were at Lower Lough Erne. A Cuckoo was at Monea


In Co. Down:
The Ring-necked Duck was back at the Temple Water, Castleward

A Great Spotted Woodpecker was drumming at an undisclosed location.

2 Whimbrel were at Dundrum Inner Bay North

A Blackcap was singing in the pottery courtyard in Rowallane Gardens (Matt Liddle)
