Bird News Thursday 14th April

In Co.Down
4 Waxwings were at the City Hall in Belfast (Ronald Surgenor) Ronald suffers from insomnia i think! At the RSPB Reserve 2 Sandwich Terns were displaying on one of the Tern Islands. 500 Golden Plover, 3 Swallows and 250 Black Tailed Godwits were also seen (Ronald Surgenor)

Kinnegar shore had 3 wheatear, 16 brent geese, 28 dunlin and approx 31 ringed plover - Ronald again!)

A Green Sandpiper was along the Lagan at Donaghcloney. An Otter was also seen (Ted Rolston) 

In Co. Antrim
Another 40 Waxwing were at Fortwilliam Park, Antrim Road.

A Grasshoper Warbler was at Slievenacloy.

A first winter Mediterranean Gull was at Larne Pomenade.

In Co.Armagh
A Ruddy Duck and a Sedge Warbler were at Kinnegoe Hide Oxford Island (David Nixon)

In Co.Londonderry
A Grasshopper Warbler and Long Eared Owl were at Lough Beg  

What?! More Blue Tit photos????? - this is getting to be a bit of a habit but then we can't turn down photos from our long-term contributor Pipecock Jaxton - he tweeted us earlier 'a rolling stone gathers no moss, a rolling stone is a thing of the past'. We have absolutely no idea what he's on about but we like his tits.
