Bird News Tuesday 26th April

Co.Londonderry
250 Dunlin, 16 Sanderling, 12 Eider and 6 Sedge Warblers were at the Bann Estuary.

At Balls Point Lough Foyle a male Greenland Wheatear was on the shore.

Myroe Levels had 2 White Wagtail and 120 Golden Plover.

Longfield Point had 35 Whimbrel, 3 White Wagtail and 50+ Sedge Warblers

In Co.Antrim
2 male and a female Ruddy Duck were at Boomers Dam, Lisburn (David Brooks)
Yesterday 5 Crossbill were at Glenhead Road.
A male Garganey and 50 Whimberal were at Portmore Lough

In Co. Down:
The redhead Smew, 25 Black-tailed Godwit and 3 Common Tern were at the Quoile Pondage

A Reed Warbler, 4 Sedge Warblers and a Grasshopper Warbler were at Tullyratty Great Dam

A Cuckoo was at Murlough NNR (Leonard Charles)

I think the anonymous contributor who sent in this photo of the Smew at the Quoile is definitely in the running for photo of the year never mind photo of the month!!

It seems the shame of that Smew photo above has got to Mr. Anonymous and now he's just emailed these two pics - it'll take a lot more than that to make up for it Mr. X!
