Ring-billed Gull Ballycastle

Ring Billed Gulls have been scarce this winter in Northern Ireland so it was a bit of a surprise when one was found yesterday evening in the summer gull hotspot of Ballycastle by Colin Guy. Ballycastle played host last summer to a Laughing Gull so we are hoping for a hat rick of American Gulls next summer. Geoff Campbell has sent a series of great photos of this stunner. Who needs Whinchat or Cuckoo photos when you can have the real thing!
The pictures were sent to gull guru Orcilla Hadrick who has aged it as a first summer, mainly because it looks a bit young. Thanks to Orcilla for that.
Special thanks to Geoff for the great photos! Geoff now has a Flickr stream showing his photos, i had a look this morning and near missed work! http://www.flickr.com/photos/63223331@N05/
