Its not Mad Friday yet but...........

Many thanks to Pat Baines for this great photo of the first American Passerine of the Autumn, a Golden Winged Warbler. Nice one Pat and also a first record for Dumfries and Galloway and also a first for Pats garden. Imagine that, you would think with the amount of Methelated Spirits that Pat throws down her neck every afternoon she would have seen more of these.

Dear Nibirding

I enjoy reading your blog from my cottage overlooking the lagoon here in lovely Tacumshin.

As you can probably imagine I am tired of ticking the same old Pallid Harriers and Buff Breasted-White Rumped-Semi Palmated-Bairds Sandpipers. Throw in Bearded Tits and Montagues Harriers well its enough to make any man dream of a field of Seagulls.

Can you advise me of anywhere on your patch where one might see Black Headed Gulls.I know it is a long shot but I dont want to take on a 500 mile trip and be disappointed

Hope you or your viewers might be able to help.

Good Birding

Evander Holyfield'

Can anyone Help Evander? This is a genuine email we have been sent, we have the email address and we will be sending a team round with medication.

Never before seen photos

The Pacific Golden Plovers are but a distant memory but luckily for us Tom Champange (remember him?!!) has sent us some photos of them which he has been saving on his laptop! What better way to start a new month! Tom says he will hunt out some more for us in the comeing weeks!

The Stats never lie!

Many thanks to Stato McNeill who has kindly forwarded a table of the photographs that have appeared in both NIBirding and Nobirds Blogs this month. We take no pleasure in these findings (honest we don't) as we would like to see a strong Nobirds blog because its all about the birds. Considering they are an organistaion with a Committee and 100+ members and we are two country boys then the below results are truly shocking. So come on guys shape up and give us a run for our money. We would also encourage other birders to start up their own Birding Blogs, the more the merrier and if you need any help or photos just contact us as we would only be too willing too help

Very bad news indeed, the Mad O'Callaghan has told us that he has found a memory card with more Phalarope pictures on it. Come on O'Callaghan have you no pictures of anything else?

Last Phalarope pictures ever.

The Mad O'Callaghan sent us these photos last night and told us to make the most of them as he has no more left. This is a shame but we have had a great run and i don't think anyone could complain about these super photos. We have been tweeted and been promised a full expose of why the Phalarope disapeared suddenly, tune in on Friday to find out why!

Blast from the Past

Especially for Gavin and Peter and becaause we are the only NI Bird Blog that ever posts any photos of seagulls here is a classic from all our yesteryears, yes the Whitehead Bonapartes Gull. I remeber it well! Many thanks to Orcilla Hadrick (recently released from Jail) for the great photographs!

Read it and Weep!

Yes, how jealous are all of you? You should be - Leonard Charles got me Hugo Duncan's autograph!!

To celebrate, here's the man himself in action, click play for a dose of country music genius. Definitely the highlight of the summer season in Newcastle, better than Red-rumped Swallows, Alpine Swift or Ringo gulls anyday

Peter Anthony Ferguson

Gavin Ferguson is a proud new dad to Peter Anthony Ferguson. Gavin tells me that he has already bought Peter his first Gull Book and funny enough its the only thing that calms him down and gets him off to sleep. I asked Gavin what species Peter prefers and he said that young Peter has the Kumliens Gull (first winters) page well thumbed. So to celebrate the great news here are some photos of first winter Kumliens Gulls taken in Northern Ireland just for Peter.
