Bird News Sunday 15th January

In Co. Down:
A Kumlien's Gull, 14 Iceland Gull (8 1st winter, 4 2nd winter a 4th winter and an adult) and 3 Glaucous Gull (2 1st winter and a 2nd winter) were at Ardglass

A Red Kite was at the Blackstaff River, Dundrum Inner Bay North

A 2nd winter Glaucous Gull was on Murlough Beach (Dan Bailie)

The 2ndwinter Ring Billed Gull was at Groomsport

A Short-eared Owl was at Killard Pt. (Ronald Surgenor)

The Black redstart still at Knockinelder Bay and a Sandwich tern at Templecowey. Yesterday single Sandwich terns at Cloughy Bay and Burial Island and a garnet at Millisle (Richard Weyl)

In Co. Antrim:
The Bonapartes Gull was still at Ballygally today (Keith Bennett / Ian Dickey)

The Marsh Harrier and male Smew were at Portmore Lough RSPB Reserve

A Black Throated Diver and a 2ndw Iceland Gull were at Rathlin Island

75 Whooper Swans and 4 Greylags were on the Ballybogey Road near Ballymoney. The adult Ring Billed Gull was at the East Strand Car Park. 2 Glaucous Gulls were at Corbally Dam, Portrush (Mark Smyth)

A 1stwinter Iceland Gull was at Blackhead, Larne and a Redhead Goosander off Glynn Station, Larne Lough. The Dark Bellied Brent Goose was still near Ballycarry

In Co.Fermanagh: The Blue Phase Snow Goose was still at Lough Macnean, Gortagole

In Co.Donegal: 2 second winter Kumliens Gulls (new birds) were at Killybegs along with around 20 Iceland and 15 Glaucous Gulls
