Bird News Wednesday 11th January

In Co.Antrim:
A 3rdwinter Kumliens Gull, at least 13 Iceland Gull (3 1stw, 4 2ndw, 3 3rdw and 3 adult) and 4 Glaucous Gull were at Corbally Dam , Portrush (David Steele)

A Dark Bellied Brent Goose was one mile north of Ballycarry Bridge, Larne Lough (Cameron Moore)

In Co.Down:

9 Snow Bunting were at the summit of Slieve Donard (Patrick Lynch)

Along the Newry Canal:
Approx 50 lapwing in Bann Meadows. Flock of 15-20 Golden Plover in adjacent field 5-7 Bullfinch, Kingfisher. Three Buzzards put on an excellent display. Man walking in Moneypennys field with his dogs flushed two woodcock and a snipe. Hundreds of Redwing and Fieldfare too many to count. A large flock of black headed gulls and lapwing at Knock Bridge. In adjacent field 27 Whooper Swans. A failed Sparrowhawk attack on flock of chaffinch near Scarva.
