Bird News Thursday 15th March

Thanks to Ian Dickey for this all action photo!

In Co.Antrim:
A 2ndw Iceland Gull was at McConnells Weir (Ronald Surgenor)

In Co.Down:
A Carrion Crow and 70 Pale Bellied Brent were at Crawfordsburn (Ronald Surgenor)

A Jack Snipe was along the Blackstaff River (Dan Bailie)

We had another laugh at the latest Nobirds bit of education. Just to correct them there has not been a huge flock of Whoopers and Greylags all winter in the Limavady area, in fact there have been virtually none of either species wintering. The current birds are Whoopers and Greylags that winter in Donegal and then over the past couple of weeks there numbers build up and this is a traditional spring staging post before they hoof it off to Iceland / Greenland. Really i just give up
