Oxford Island Duck Update

The duck at Oxford Island has been seen again today and is considered a hybrid and not a pure Lesser Scaup. But its a difficult bird and does look very Lesser Scaup like. Certain features are not correct, the flanks, back, bill pattern and size of bird, slightly bigger than Tufted Duck. However the wing pattern looks good for Lesser Scaup as does the head shape and observers feel it could be a Lesser Scaup x Tufted Duck although guessing parents of hybrids is not an easy task.
